The Curbside laboratory was constructed in front of the Physicians Center driveway facing EDSA in July 2020 to serve the emerging demand for drive-thru laboratory tests especially from geriatrics and immunocompromised patients during the pandemic. It was designed as a fast lane for safe and worry-free lab tests with guaranteed slots upon arrival because service provision is by appointment. Some unsolicited and on-the-spot feedback from patients and their families include appreciation of its quick and prompt service, painless blood extraction, cheerful medtechs, and the feeling of being safe because they get their blood and swab tests efficiently with minimal exposure to the environment.
The Curbside Lab has served an average of 130 patients a month with RT PCR testing included until the Ambulatory Consultation and Swabbing Unit (ACSU) was opened in October to serve patients for swab testing in the newly constructed Emergency Room extension (the ER 2 and ACSU).
