Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, the institutional face to face Alagang Ina mother’s class hosted by the Department of OBGYN was at risk for suspension this year until the social distancing protocol is lifted. VRPMC took a bold step to hold an unprecedented virtual class, the first ever Alagang Ina webinar open to the public but most particularly to the patients of the OBGYN Department and Damayan. Event announcements and invitation to join was posted on social media with online registration for interested participants. Over a hundred registered online and more than 80 joined the webinar, an unexpected 50% more than the average attendance of face to face physical class. The success of this webinar became a model to the Mother-Baby-Friendly Hospital Committee and Lactation Center to also pursue hosting its annual Mom and Baby Fair via a webinar with an interesting topic, “Breastfeeding During Pandemic”. The same order of marketing logistics was put in place and the webinar was also well-attended by participants who are mostly first time moms (FTMs).
